Blue-black negotiations: Kickl warns of new elections!
The negotiations between the FPÖ and the ÖVP to form a blue-black coalition were stopped abruptly on Tuesday evening, as FPÖ boss Herbert Kickl announced. The ÖVP described this as a "break in negotiations", while FPÖ circles reported that discrepancies have occurred from internal votes of the ÖVP. The central point of dispute remains the distribution of department. Kickl insists on the Ministry of the Interior for the FPÖ and also calls for the Ministry of Finance and an independent Minister of Justice, while the ÖVP continues to insist on being able to run the Interior Ministry itself. Memories of the previous turquoise blue coalition, in which the FPÖ was left to the Interior Ministry, ensure additional tensions, such as "https://www.oe24.at/oesterreich/verhandlungen-stiedt-das-sagt-fpoe-chef-herbert-kickl/622724847" OE24 reported.
The conflict on the distribution of departments could seriously endanger progress, but both parties state that they want to continue to negotiate with each other. According to an insider of the ÖVP, there are many matches in terms of content, and one can imagine an early agreement, provided that the "blue-black poker" does not escalate. The talks are to be resumed on Wednesday. Kickl stated that the trust of people in politics had to be restored and threatened as the last remedy with new elections should no progress. This information was based on the recent statements by Kickl, which were submitted in a previous press conference, such as Tagesschau
