Bachmann's literary heritage: New home at the University of Klagenfurt!
An important step for Carinthia's literature and culture scene: The library of the renowned writer Ingeborg Bachmann will be available to the University of Klagenfurt in the future. A corresponding contract between the state of Carinthia, the city of Klagenfurt and the university ensures the handover of these valuable resources over a period of 33 years, such as The Kleine Zeitung reports . This library not only forms an insight into Bachmann's literary work, but also reflects her life, your interests and your network, which is documented with numerous dedications of prominent personalities.
The works and genres that are represented in the collection range from crime novels to English and American literature to topics such as nature and education. "No topic was not interesting," emphasizes Katharina Herzmansky, the curator of the Bachmann House. Despite the broad collection, Bachmann will remain in the memory as a Holocaust processor. Many books are dedicated to well -known personalities, including Ilse Aichinger, Heinrich Böll and Henry Kissinger, which underlines the diversity and interest of the author.
opening of the Bachmann House
On June 27, 2025, the Bachmann house will be officially opened. The renovation work is currently in full swing to prepare the premises for the collection and the estate of the author, which includes many personal objects. These include furniture, typewriters, life documents and of course your private library. This commitment shows the appreciation for the literary heritage of Bachmann and ensures future generations access to their work, as ORF Carinthia reports .
