Vandalism at Herrsching train station: glass facade damaged! Reward 1000 euros!

A current case of vandalism has become known at Herrsching train station, which affects the public toilet facility that has not yet been put into operation. Unknown people deliberately damaged a glass facade element of the new facility, which has affected the community and Mayor Christian Schiller. The damage has already been reported to the police, who have now begun an investigation.

The new toilet facility is expected to be put into operation in the next 14 days. Preparatory work for the system began in November, while the modules were delivered in early December. The total costs for setting up the system amount to over 300,000 euros. It includes two toilet rooms with urinals and a disabled toilet. The toilets can be used for a fee, for which both coin-operated machines and card payments are available. It is believed that a sharp hammer was used to cause the damage.

Details about the incident

How Mercury reported that the toilet facility was still fenced in when the damage occurred. Unidentified people left a hole and several cracks in the glass facade, which was equipped with specially coated glass. The Herrsching community expressed disappointment at the disrespectful treatment of public property.

A reward of 1,000 euros, donated by an anonymous citizen, was offered for information that would help catch the perpetrators. The police are asking the public for help and are accepting tips on (08152) 93020. According to reports, the amount of material damage cannot yet be quantified.

The decision to build the new toilet outside the station building was made in February of the previous year. The costs for the construction amounted to around 150,000 euros, less subsidies from urban development funding. The incident represents an ugly turn for a project that aims to improve access to sanitation in a public place, such as South Germans reported.
