Environment under pressure: FPÖ criticizes pumped storage power plant on the written stone!
Geschriebenstein, Österreich - The political excitement around the planned pumping power plant on the written stone spills through Burgenland. The FPÖ MPs Thomas Grandits, Thomas Karacony, Sandro Waldmann and Markus Wiesler show vehemently concerns about this "monster project". They warn that the construction of two water basins, one high up and one in the valley, is not compatible with nature conservation. The critics are particularly concerned with the question of water procurement, because the region is affected by dryness anyway, as well as reported.
In the current government work, the topic is only addressed in one sentence on page 46 of the "Future Plan 2030", which proposes the project. The calculation of such a pumped storage power plant stipulates that water flows through turbines to generate electricity and is pumped back from renewable energies when overproduction. However, critics see this as a climate-political scandal and speak of "climate communism", while the freedoms indicate the potential damage to the nature park, which includes an area of around 35,500 hectares and offers numerous rare animal and plant species, such as the krone emphasized.
The FPÖ urgently demands that the state government refrain from the plans, since they are not only geologically problematic, but also contradict the sustainable development of the region. Burgenland Energie's responsible persons stated that discussions about the possibilities of the project are underway, but it remains unclear how the further discussion will go.
