Temporary World Heritage Center in Erfurt: An innovative approach to culture!
Erfurt, Deutschland - A temporary Center for World Heritage is set up in Erfurt to present the newly recognized Jewish-medieval sites. This was announced by Tobias Knoblich, who is now acting as State Secretary for Digital and Infrastructure, at a city administration meeting. The first plans are scheduled to begin in January 2025. However, a real new construction of the World Heritage Center could only be realized in 10 to 15 years, since the city council still has to decide on the plans. The construction is planned in a parking space behind the town hall of the old town, where the remains of another medieval synagogue are suspected, the Süddeutsche Zeitung .
challenges in use
The city is faced with challenges to better open up the three buildings belonging to the UNESCO World Heritage-the old synagogue, the Mikwewe and the Steinerne House. While the old synagogue is already used museum, the place is limited due to the historical building fabric from the 11th century. The maximum of visitors has already been reached for the mikwe. In addition, the stone house, a profane building from 1250, has not yet been publicly accessible. A well thought -out usage concept must be developed here to ensure the preservation of the monuments, as Knoblich emphasized.
Knoblich was a crucial player in Erfurt's application for the UNESCO World Heritage title and will now support the Thuringian state government after working in the city administration for 13 years. His achievements have largely promoted the city's cultural heritage, including important projects such as ICE City. Dr. Tobias Knoblich’s farewell is recognized by the city with gratitude for his creative vision and its commitment to preserve the Jewish heritage, as well as the reported.
