A great danger to swans and other water birds in the picturesque great settlement near Neubrandenburg has finally been removed. A dangerous overhead line was dismantled well before the originally planned date, as reported by the ORNITHOLOGIE Neubrandenburg (FGO) group. These electricity lines have been doomed in recent years, including muck swans and cranes. Two dead swans were documented for this year's victims. Previously there have been accidents since 2009, in which the birds flew and died against the lines. The Neubrandenburg Stadtwerke and Edis, the operators of the lines, have now traded faster than expected and carried out the dismantling between August and October 2024, which has finally been removed from the source of danger, Klaus-Jürgen Donner from the FGO reported. A total of around 15 kilometers of overhead lines were dismantled, five kilometers in the Tollensewiesen, as confirmed by the municipal utilities.
