Another important project concerns the supplementary construction of the Nuremberg State Theater. The City of Nuremberg started the award procedure for the new venue. The tender was published in the "Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union" and on relevant online platforms. This is the planning and construction of the supplementary construction that is connected to existing functional areas of the theater.
The construction includes a stage, a spectator, an orchestral sample room and functional areas close to the stage. The budget for the new venue is a total of 108 million euros, of which 42 million euros are planned for supplementary construction. The city plans to apply for funding in accordance with the Bavarian Financial Effect Act, whereby 75% of the costs, i.e. 81 million euros, are to be financed from state funds. The government of Middle Franconia has already granted a certificate of harmony that is a prerequisite for the start of the award procedure.
The award procedure is carried out as a total acceptance (TÜ) for planning and construction. The architectural planning is carried out by a corresponding architecture office. The procedure is processed in two stages: a public participation competition and a subsequent negotiation procedure. Interested applicants can submit evidence of their performance by the beginning of June. The surcharge criteria take into account costs, functionality and aesthetics. A decision on the award is expected to be made in winter 2023/2024.
