Northvolt remains on the market: factory in Heide secures jobs!

On January 9, 2025, NDR reported on several current events in Schleswig-Holstein. The company Northvolt, which is in financial difficulties, is particularly in focus. At an extraordinary shareholders' meeting in Stockholm, the majority of creditors voted to continue operations. This allows production in the Swedish factories to continue. Northvolt also has plans to build a factory in Heide, Dithmarschen district, to produce battery cells for electric cars. Despite ongoing financial and production challenges, the company plans to initiate reorganization proceedings under US law, with an initial hearing already held in December in Houston, Texas.

Another incident occurred in Itzehoe, also in the Steinburg district. On Wednesday, a twelve-year-old child was seriously injured while trying to cross Lehwohldstrasse. The child ran between two cars that were stuck in a traffic jam and was hit by a Skoda driven by a 36-year-old driver who was traveling at an adjusted speed. The seriously injured child was immediately taken to hospital.
