New bike path between Dreieich and Offenbach: starting shot 2026!

Offenbach, Deutschland - The bike path from Dreieich to the district of Neu-Isenburg was completed in 2024 by Hessen Mobil. Nevertheless, there are still some sections that are not continuous, in particular the area from Neuhöfer Straße to the Gravenbruchring, where cyclists have to drive on the street. The design planning for a new bike path has already been created at this point and has been noted by the city councils. The construction of the new cycle path section should begin at the end of 2026 or early 2027.

The planned cycle path will be an important addition to the regional cycle path network and also offer a secure crossing at the access to the leisure site Orplid and Wannabe. The local chairman of the general German bicycle club, Franz Drews, expressed a positive statement about the design, but criticized the supply from the west. The traffic attempt between Offenbach and Neu-Isenburg was evaluated positively, and the section along Offenbacher Strasse is preserved.

planned extensions and funding opportunities

The city of Neu-Isenburg plans to follow the inner-city cycling network, which includes eastern Offenbacher Straße, southern Friedhofstrasse and the northern Gravenbruchring. In addition, funding could be applied for via the near -mobility directive, with a funding rate of up to 70 percent possible. Around 2,200 square meters of road space are to be sealed and replanted to promote the environment.

The planned cycle path will be 2.50 meters wide and will run on the west side of Offenbacher Strasse, where the roadway is reduced by four to two traces. A barrier -free bus stop on Friedhofstrasse is also being expanded, with the bike path being led behind the waiting area. After the transfer via Autobahn 661, the bike path changes to the east side of Offenbacher Strasse and enables a direct connection to the eastern industrial area. The cycle path continues to Neuhöfer Straße within the street parcel on the east side.

The further planning of the bike paths along the L3313 (Offenbach, Neu-Isenburg, Dreieich) and L3117 (Heusenstamm, Gravenbruch, Neu-Isenburg) was successfully completed in the first planning phase. This planning is carried out in cooperation with Hessen Mobil, whereby the city of Neu-Isenburg takes over to the L3313, while the L3117 is coordinated by Hessen Mobil. IMB Plan GmbH from Hanau received the contract for the further planning services, and the magistrate commissioned the planning for the L3313 and the connection planning for an amount of 55,350 euros.

The planned cycle path will join the traffic test of the city of Offenbach am Gravenbruchring and run to the interface with the L3117, where a change to the east side is planned. In addition, a connection to Neuhöfer Straße to Dreieich is sought, with an implementation for 2024. An underpass with a spindle -shaped ramp to cross the motorway entrance is also planned. The construction phases 1 and 2 from the fire lines to Heusenstamm are to be implemented in 2023.

As part of the measures, adjustments to existing nodes and the barrier -free conversion of bus stops are also planned. In addition, the cycle paths are to be connected to the inner-city foot and cycling network, with an exchange with the cities of Offenbach and Dreieich intended to link with cycling fast paths (FRM1, FRM9). The aim of these measures is to make cycling in the Offenbach district more attractive for commuters and to create an incentive to switch from the car to the bike, which should make a contribution to climate protection and traffic transition.
