New multipark on Sylt: Modernization for athletes and skaters!

In the heart of Westerland, something big is happening: The former location of the Sylt Stadium is converted into a modern multipark Sylt. The stadium was once the scene of important football games and the home of many sporting activities. But after the move of the Sylt team, the sports facilities rested until the construction of an innovative multi-sports park begins. According to Sylt1.tv , the redesign is progressing quickly. Construction machines have already demolished the old floors and are now working on the floor area of the first skate park. The now rather hidden construction site area will soon become the hottest meeting point for the youth.

planned sports facilities and construction progress

A budget of up to 11 million euros has already been set for the new multipark, with around 1.5 million euros being invested in the first construction phase of the skate park. The municipal council decided on August 18, 2022 to implement this construction phase. The skate park will initially be open to schools and clubs before changing the land use planning enables an opening to the public, as gemeindesylt.de . The first skateboard obstacles could be completed by the end of 2025.

In addition to the skate park, a new street ball area is also being planned, which at times adds the existing streetball basket until a complete basketball court will be created as part of a third construction phase. In addition, the west coastal cycle path in the area is widened in order to offer both security and an improved cycling connection. Even the condition of the old half pipe, which is now being torn down, has by no means fulfilled the security standards that need modern sports facilities. The community, supported by a Danish planning office and local sports clubs, is optimistic that this area of Sylt will soon become a pulsating center of sporting activities.
