In the district park on Pleißenbach in Chemnitz, a new valley bridge was opened, which can now be used for pedestrians: inside and cyclists: inside. The provisional scaffolding bridge on Erzbergerstrasse, which was used during the construction period of the new valley bridge, is now being broken down. A premium cycle path of about one kilometer in length is continued and several parking paths are created.

The aim is to take into account including game concepts and to meet high demands on material quality and creativity in planning.
The project was awarded to the playground manufactory from Teltow near Berlin after a award procedure. The redesign of the park takes into account the original character of the former freight station by integrating historical elements such as track systems and a charging promenade. In addition, the renaturation of the Pleißenbach promotes a spacious extensive landscape with a high recreational value.
The district park on the Pleißenbach is part of the intervention area "City on the River" and is intended to create attractive places along the Chemnitz and its tributaries to support the Capital of Culture in Europe in 2025. According to TAG24.de five million euros are made available. Regina Kraushaar, President of the State Directorate, recently handed over a notice of funding over 3.8 million euros to Mayor Michael Stötzer.
The third construction phase has already started and the work should be completed by the end of 2024. These include the renaturation of the Pleißenbach and the creation of play options and new plantings. Further construction phases after 2024 include the opening of the Ratsbach and the construction of new bike paths and shrubs for birds.
