Artwork about lost Biedermeiergarten at Meidling station unveiled

at Vienna Meidling station, one of the most important traffic hubs in the city, there is an exciting redesign: As part of an innovative art exhibition, an imaginative reconstruction of a historical garden was presented. Christian Kosmas Mayer, the artist behind the project, used artificial intelligence to create pictures of this lost Biedermeiergarten, which was once created by Sigismund Freiherr von Pronay in 1817. These colorful representations now adorn the walls of the passage and set an impressive accent in the otherwise busy station, which is frequented daily from 55,000 to 85,000 travelers, according to the information from Kleine Zeitung and the wikipedia .

brought back a piece of history

The original garden, famous for its rare pelargonies and as a retreat for the composer Ludwig van Beethoven, had to give way in 1839 to make room for the construction of the southern train route and the train station. Since there are no original illustrations of the green area, Mayer with the help of AI developed a speculative visualization that combines both facts and imagination. The large -scale installation art extends over more than 300 square meters and is intended to bring the past of the station to life.

The ÖBB and the City of Vienna have jointly realized this art project in order not only to upgrade the train station functionally, but also aesthetically. Erich Pirkl, Managing Director of ÖBB Immobilienmanagement GmbH, emphasizes the importance of the station as a modernization project and place of well -being for travelers. This initiative shows how art and history can be harmoniously integrated into the modern cityscape, which contributes to an appealing atmosphere for the commuters.
