Kleinwalsertal on the move: 200 million for new mountain railways and more!

Kleinwalsertal, Österreich - The Kleinwalsertaler Bergbahn AG (KBB) is experiencing an important realignment, because the Raiffeisen Holding, together with the municipality of Mittelberg, takes over the majority of the shares that were previously owned by the Allgäu overland works (AÜW) and the energy supply in Kleinwalsertal (EVK). With this strategic decision, Raiffeisen aims to make KBB fit for the future challenges of the energy transition. Over the next few years, massive 200 million euros are to be invested in the modernization of the mountain railways, including the new building of the Walmendingerhornbahn, which is to be tackled in 2026. Further planned measures include the modernization of the pulpit path by 2029 and the construction of a new snowmaking at the Fellhorn in 2030 to sustainably improve the infrastructure for tourism, as reports the website Vorarlberg.orf.at.

In addition to the investments in the mountain railways, the Walser Raiffeisen Holding has launched a remarkable cultural project. Together with the Innsbruck Film Team Experience. Under the direction of Bernhard Garber, six significant personalities in the region are initially interviewed, including hotelier Toni Haller and former former mayor Werner Strohmaier. The aim is to keep historical anecdotes and experiences alive and to preserve a piece of local history for future generations, as reported on Raiffeisenholding.at. This initiative not only emphasizes the importance of the region's inheritance, but also combines memories with the current development in the valley.
