Ex-mayor of Pluwig convicted: three and a half years in prison for bribes!

The former mayor Wolfgang Annen from Pluwig was sentenced to a prison sentence of three and a half years by the Münster District Court for severe bribery. Annen, a CDU politician who worked as a volunteer mayor of Pluwig from 1999 to 2014 and from 2014 to 2020 as mayor of Ostbevern, is the focus of a scandal for illegal advantages in awarding land. According to Trierischer Volksfreund he received at least 61,000 euros from Münster who was given in the past when awarding land.

When the verdict was pronounced, the court found that Annen and the co -accused entrepreneur denied the allegations and did not show up. This attitude influenced the sentence that exceeded the public prosecutor's demand for two and a half years.
