Kiel-Schönberg railway line: New cost explosion of 36 million euros!
The reactivation of the railway line between Kiel and Schönberger Strand is significantly more expensive than originally planned. Current estimates show that the total costs are now around 86 million euros, which represents an increase of around 36 million euros compared to the initial plans, as the schleswig-holstein/kiel-bahnstrecke-hein-schoenberg-36-million-euro-e--s-ewx4bw4hjraifaglhdqwu45mry.html"> Kieler Nachrichten. The main cause of the high costs is the heavily increased prices in construction as well as necessary technical adjustments and the repair of the Hagen Au bridge, which was more complex than expected. Despite these additional costs, the state of Schleswig-Holstein only has to bear 30 million euros, since the federal government now pays shares of the costs, which significantly reduces the financial burden for the country.
New schedule for the rail connection
Transport Minister Claus Ruhe Madsen announced that the construction of the rail connection in 1982 in 1982 will now take place in several phases, whereby trains are to be operated to Schönkirchen in December 2025. By the end of 2026, the trains are to drive to Probsteierhagen and until the end of 2027 to Schönberger Strand, such as the State government added. These new connections contribute to the better connection of the state capital to the surrounding communities and are part of the efforts to improve local public transport in the country.
The use of the route is to be offered every hour in the future, with the new battery braces being used. The journey time between Kiel and Schönberg is expected to be almost 30 minutes, which in particular will benefit commuters. Inviting plans that involve the outer Kiel area into modern transport infrastructure promise a new era of traveling in this region.
