KTM in the crisis: 3,600 jobs in danger - this is how the region reacts!
Munderfing, Österreich - ktm, the famous motorcycle manufacturer, faces a catastrophic situation: On Friday, the company in the Ried regional court filed three renovation applications with self -administration, which brings more than 3,600 employees and 2,380 employees in an uncertain location. There are a total of 1,624 creditors who claim claims at a dizzying amount of around 2.9 billion euros, as reported by the Creditors Protection Association AKV. The big question that the employees and the region concerns is: What happens now with the jobs?
critical perspectives from the region
The situation is extremely tense in the affected community of Munderfing. An anonymous local politician explains that 80 percent of KTM's municipal taxes come, which underlines the dependence of the community. The mood on site is "extremely bad" and the financial consequences could be catastrophic. Since many suppliers depend on KTM, a domino effect in the region cannot be ruled out. On Monday, the Chamber of Labor will hold company meetings in the works to inform the employees about their rights and to help them assert their claims, such as reports.
The new beginning for KTM depends heavily on the willingness to cooperate of the banks and the contribution of the owner. Insolvency manager Karl-Heinz Götze makes it clear that renovation is only possible with the support of the owner Stefan Pierer, who speaks of his “life's work”. The next steps to save the company must be determined by the end of February, whereby the service contracts of the employees will remain for the time being and they have to comply with their work obligations. Despite the serious situation, Götze remains optimistic that the company may be saved with timely action.
