Würzburg volunteers are helping out at the Final Four Cup in Neu-Ulm!

Lucas Acksteiner was involved as a volunteer at the men's Cup Final Four, which took place in Neu-Ulm. The 28-year-old from Würzburg, who has been playing for TV Weiterhausen for four years, became aware of the event through a friend who works in the organization team and came forward to see the stars up close. How bttv.de reported, Acksteiner traveled to Neu-Ulm on Thursday with his friend Marvin Schenk and stayed overnight in a hostel.

On Friday morning he started working in the ratiopharm arena at 7 a.m., where his tasks included setting up the event, such as laying the floor and preparing the game boxes. Acksteiner also had the opportunity to watch the top players train before staying in the arena until 10 p.m. He was back at work early on Saturday, starting his work at 7:30 a.m. His duties also included collecting the balls when he volunteered as a ball boy. After the award ceremony, he helped to quickly dismantle the event before he started the journey back on Sunday morning in order to be rested after two intensive days.

Regional participation and personal perspectives

Traditionally, the Cup Final Four attracted many spectators from Bavaria, even though no Bavarian team took part in the competition. Those present included, among others, the regional league ladies from TV Hostetten and players from TSV Aichach, as well as 15 spectators from TSV Kühbach. Frank Novak, head of the para table tennis department at BVS Bayern, also visited the event.

Acksteiner, who plays for the fifth team in district class A, regularly travels 20 minutes from Würzburg to Weiterhausen to pursue his sport there. He moved to Würzburg to study teaching and started playing table tennis at TV Weiterhausen in the third semester. Acksteiner plans to continue to volunteer at similar events in the future and is interested in taking part in the WTT Champions in Frankfurt in the fall. His sporting future in Weiterhausen remains uncertain given that he will soon be graduating. In the middle of the year he will find out where he will be working as a primary school teacher for German, math and sports and how ttbl.de reported additionally.
