Vienna takes action against stray cats: New project ensures animal protection!
TierQuarTier Vienna has taken on the important task of carrying out the city of Vienna's stray cat project. This committed project aims to sustainably regulate the often suffering population of stray cats in Vienna and thus avoid unnecessary animal suffering. The project involves catching all reported stray cats, neutering them and then returning them to their usual environment. Thomas Benda, the operations manager of TierQuarTier, expressed his enthusiasm: “It is a great honor for us to have been given this responsibility by the city of Vienna.” He emphasizes the importance of the project for the living conditions of the animals.
To ensure the effective implementation of the project, a TierQuarTier team works closely with committed volunteers. Ruth Jily, the head of the veterinary office, sees this cooperation as a significant step in animal protection: “With its work in the stray cat project, TierQuarTier is now making another major contribution to the city of Vienna’s animal protection work.” The population is also asked to actively participate by reporting stray cats or supporting the project financially. Information about this can be found on the TierQuarTier website. Reports about unneutered stray cats can be made to the “Veterinary Office and Animal Welfare, Lost and Found Service for Pets” hotline. This hotline is an important contact that is committed to improving the situation of stray cats wien.gv.at reported.
Identifying and dealing with stray cats
Stray cats are often shy and usually hang out at dusk or at night. Their appearance can appear unkempt, in contrast to outdoor cats, which belong in a home and are usually well cared for. While the stray cats will be better cared for through the new project, outdoor cats should not be caught because they have a home and are often very friendly. TierQuarTier Vienna sets a new standard in animal protection by not only providing medical care, but also significantly improving the animals' quality of life through the stray cat project.
