World War II bomb in Munich: 400 people evacuated and successfully defused!

Kraepelinstraße, München, Deutschland - On July 3, 2025, a 250 kg flying bomb from the Second World War was successfully defused. The incident occurred on a construction site in Kraepelinstrasse in the Schwabing district, Munich. This flying bomb had broken into two parts and the detonator was active. In order to banish the danger, a large -scale deployment of the Munich fire brigade was started, supported by other organizations such as the police and the technical relief organization.

To set the security area, a blocking radius of 150 meters was set up around the aviation bomb. There were numerous facilities on this radius, including the Max Planck Institute, residential buildings and parts of the Schwabing Clinic, and fortunately no patient rooms were affected. A total of around 400 people had to be evacuated, many of which were looked after in the Willi-Graf Gymnasium, where around 70 people were accommodated during the defusing.
