in the Rax Schneeberg area, more precisely at Schwarzau in the mountains, a devastating forest fire broke out on Saturday morning, presumably caused by a burning vehicle. The flames quickly spread to an adjacent forest, supported by strong wind, and set fire to a large-scale alarm for the fire brigade. Puls24 added that two extinguishing helicopters are also on standby if necessary.

It is not the first serious incident of this kind in the region: in 2021 the district had already experienced an enormous forest fire, which affected almost 115 hectares and used almost 9,000 helpers. Such operations not only require the fire brigade, but also the entire infrastructure and show the constant challenges that prevail in these endangered areas.
