Disappoint election results: Halved Greens, FPö cheers in the Gänserndorf district!
In the most recent municipal council election, the Gänserndorf Greens had to accept a drastic defeat: they fell from four to two mandates and have halved with it. This was too much stress for Beate Kainz and her colleague. In conversation with the NÖN, Kainz said that the daily work for green concerns obviously did not achieve the desired results. In particular, it makes the fact that the FPÖ could almost triple its mandates from two to six. These classic political upheavals show the difficulties with which the Greens are faced.
The election also led to an overwhelming victory of the FPÖ in the Gänserndorf district. With almost 33 percent of the vote, she catapulted herself to first place and achieved a gain of around 13.6 percentage points compared to the 2019 election. Sylvia Dorner, the top candidate of the FPÖ, explains that the successes depend heavily on local politicians. The municipalities of Untersiebenbrunn and Lassee in particular set an example with over 40 percent for the FPÖ. The NEOs were also able to book slight profits, while the ÖVP and the SPÖ had to deal with significant losses. The ÖVP lost about twelve percent of the voters and the SPÖ achieved the historically weakest result of its history, which is a clear order to the party to seriously touch the political issues of people, as René Zonschits emphasizes.
