Volbeat is back with a new album and a fresh sound!

Danish rock band Volbeat today released their new album God of Angels Trust, marking a significant shift in the band's sound after over 20 years in the music business. How vienna.at reports, Michael Poulsen, the founder and frontman of Volbeat, shows a refreshing approach to songwriting. This time he left excessive pondering behind and created the songs with more freedom in song structure, without losing the band's signature sound, often referred to as "Elvis metal".

The album contains catchy melodies, danceable rhythms and anthemic choruses. Particularly outstanding is the song “In the Barn of the Goat Giving Birth to Satan’s Spawn in a Dying World of Doom,” which does not have a classic chorus. More familiar structures can be found in tracks like “Acid Rain,” “Time Will Heal,” and “Lonely Fields,” which is based on a dream experience Poulsen had with his late father. “Time Will Heal” deals with personal lows and the loss of his father, while “Demonic Depression” deals with mental crises and conveys a universal message.

New influences and challenges

Poulsen, who has struggled with vocal problems in the past, brought fresh inspiration to the music despite his challenges. After a third operation on his vocal cords and working on his side project ASINHELL, which showcases his influence through classic death metal, he found a new creative path for Volbeat. The new album, the first since 2021's Servant of the Mind, was recorded in just 13 days, with the band aiming for a live studio atmosphere, like blabbermouth.net reported.

When Flemming C. Lund joined the band as the new lead guitarist, this new line-up exuded a breath of fresh air. Poulsen believes Volbeat is in a better position than ever before, although the change in the band is a challenge he doesn't want to experience again. Lund has been with the band for a year and will reassess the situation at the end of the year.

Concerts in Vienna

Fans can experience Volbeat live in fall 2025 when the band performs at the Wiener Stadthalle on September 30th and October 1st. The support acts for these concerts are Bush and Witch Fever, which builds anticipation for the live performances.

Volbeat, which was founded by Poulsen in 2001 and derives its name from the Dominus album “Vol.Beat”, has made a name for itself over the years and released numerous albums. Her debut record “The Strength/The Sound/The Songs” from 2005 was a crucial step in her career. With their unique mix of styles and stirring performances, they have earned a solid following that continues to this day Wikipedia -Side facing the band.
