Tragic loss for Lower Austria: Peter Erlacher died

In a shocking turn, the educational landscape of Lower Austria has lost an important personnel: Peter Erlacher, who was only used in September 2024 as an operational managing director of the Wiener Neustadt (FHWN) University of Applied Sciences) died. Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner commented on his death and emphasized that the region had lost "a great personality and a person with the heart in the right place". His work on the FHWN was characterized by a clear focus on excellence in teaching and research and he leaves an impressive balance.

Peter Erlacher will be remembered for his contribution to the development of the FHWN, in particular to the establishment of the City Campus and the award as the first 'ESA Lab' in Austria. These successes show not only the importance of his role within the university, but also the international reputation that he created. Klaus Schneeberger, Chairman of the General Assembly of the FHWN, emphasized that Erlacher's successful leadership contributed to the consolidation of the statement of the university as one of the leading educational institutions in Austria, such as fhwn.ac.at reported.
