Tierschutzverein Trossingen: Hope for floods and mold!

The situation for the Tussingen animal protection association is tense: cold and moldy are the containers in which the animal rights activists currently have to work. After flooding, the walls and floors began to mold, which led to health problems in the animals. The first chairwoman, Kerstin Neipp, describes the situation as intolerable: "The animals often got eye infections here," she reports. At the moment, the association's cats are temporarily housed in a foster home, while the animal rights activists hope for a better solution. The city and the German Animal Welfare Association have guaranteed their support, so that a plan for a new container system is created, which ideally should be built on a stable foundation in order to avert future flood risks. More details on the difficult situation of the association can be read in the article by Schwäbische.de

planned conversions and financial challenges

The new system will be larger and better equipped according to Neipp. The animal rights activists have planned places for kitchen utensils and necessary medical supplies with an anteroom. From currently 30 square meters, the premises are to be enlarged to 36 square meters. In addition, there will be two separate rooms for cats in the future to avoid potential conflicts. Despite the prospect of improved accommodation, the association remains dependent on donations because the veterinarian costs increase enormously. By October 2024, 10,000 euros had to be raised. The situation is intensified by increasing castration prices, where a single castration now costs up to 180 euros.

The association is also faced with an increasing number of find cats. This year the animal protection association was able to convey 41 cats - a clear increase compared to the 30 animals in the previous year. Neipp wants a cat protection regulation to prevent uncontrolled reproduction of the animals and reduce the financial burdens. The details on the work of the association and the mediatable animals can be found on the official website of the Tierschutzverein Trossingen
