Sternsinger in Rieden: For children's rights from house to house!

The star singers were traveling in the Rieden market at the beginning of the year. A total of 20 star singers moved through the streets of the village in five groups. Under the motto "Raise your voice! Stern singing for children's rights", they collected donations for children in need all over the world. The campaign was organized by Michaela Hetzenecker, Maria Trager, Franziska Fleischmann, Marion Hollweck and Christian Bauer.

Some of the altar servers from Rieden took part in an event in the Wittelsbach middle school in Kelheim on December 30th. Bishop Rudolf Voderholzer sent the star singers into the parishes. The children had practiced their verses diligently to spread the blessing of God and to collect support for children in need, such as Br.de reported.

participation in Bavaria and collected donations

The official sending of the star singers took place in most Bavarian dioceses. In the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising, for example, over three million euros were collected. Throughout Germany, the sum of the donations collected was almost 46 million euros. The star singers have been on the road for days and report on creative experiences and challenges, for example when nobody opens the door. Bishop Stephan Oster officially sent the star singers in Passau on their way, while the children in Regensburg gathered in the middle school in Wittelsbach.

In the coming weeks, the children will continue to move from house to house to collect donations that support aid projects for children in Kenya and Colombia, among other things. In the diocese of Regensburg, more than 1.8 million euros were collected last year. The success of the campaign underlines the importance of the message for children's rights and the end of war and violence, as recently emphasized by Cardinal Reinhard Marx in the Munich youth church. Currently, more than 3,500 star singer groups are on the road to continue their missionary work.
