Black Forest tourism is changing: How climate change hits the region
The Black Forest, the largest coherent low mountain ranges in Germany, is enjoying more than eight million guests every year and is the most important tourism region in Baden-Württemberg. Traditionally, winter tourism was very pronounced here, but climatic changes are now a serious challenge. Especially in winter, there are increasingly snow -free regions to be observed, which has an impact on the tourist season.
A discussion round recently taken in Liberty in Offenburg was devoted to the future prospects of Black Forest Dtourism and the need to expand the region in view of the changing climatic conditions, such as Badische Zeitung reported.
climate change and its effects
Nature, especially the (black) forest, forms the most important basis for tourism in the region. Climate change has had a lot of effect on the forests in Baden-Württemberg in recent years. The current forest state report shows that all tree species suffer from the consequences of climate change, including the book, oak, spruce and firs typical of the region. While the forest damage in the district of Calw is relatively low compared to other regions, there are also noticeable negative effects, especially in the warmer and drier areas.
In 2021, a slight recovery of the forests was found by cooler and wet weather, but there is no all -clear. The domestic tree species that have been the natural forest society since the last ice age are particularly affected. Future predictions about climate change are unsure, but higher temperatures and changed precipitation patterns are expected. Forests are slowly responding to such changes due to their durability.
The forest work aims to develop the forests in such a way that they can meet the climate forecasts. Scientists recommend promoting tree -specific mixed stocks and stable individual trees to meet the challenges of climate change. As part of reforestation campaigns, climat-tolerant and dry-resistant tree species such as oak, hornbeam, cherry and Douglasie are planted, such as My Black Forest explained.
