Seed rarities and sustainability: Seeboden celebrates the plant exchange!
On March 8, Seeboden shines in new splendor when the fourth plant and seed exchange exchange is opened. After the overwhelming success of the previous year, everything revolves around rare seeds and sustainable agriculture, organized by the Slow Food community in cooperation with Slow Food Carinthia. Visitors can look forward to a lively exchange of knowledge and rarities, while the organizers proudly announce that the yellow spenling is now recognized as a slow food presidium. Experts like Bernhard Huber and Horst Zwischenberger will give exciting insights into the special features of this plant, while a wide-ranging lecture program covers many aspects of agriculture, science and nutrition, such as click-kaernten.at reported.
Slow Food at Expo 2015
At the same time, Slow Food is also visible internationally: A pavilion is opened at Expo 2015, which in particular addresses the rights to work and country. In the heart of this area, the Slow Food Theater is created, a lively place for interaction and exchange of knowledge. The focus here is on the stories of those who fight for good, clean and fair food. The daily program includes lectures, discussions and film screenings that all aim to raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity in food production, such as slowfood.comSpecial events, such as the opening on May 1 by Gaetano Pascale and the important topic of the "Caporalato", a problem that violates the rights of many agricultural workers. In addition, the Slow Food area will offer a platform for young farmers, fishermen and indigenous peoples during the Terra Madre Youth event in October to share their visions for the future. Through these initiatives, Slow Food once more shows how important the preservation of a variety of food is and how they can also be maintained in a global context.
