Art for the future: Peter Krawagna thrilled with a new exhibition
Klagenfurt, Österreich - The Wörthersee is not only a picturesque place, but also a muse for the renowned artist Peter Krawagna. The 87-year-old painter, who was born in Klagenfurt, gives the nature abstraction a very personal touch. In the Gallery 3 in Klagenfurt, his impressive works from the past ten years are now shown, which are intended to exercise a special attraction for young people. Krawagna announces that art is far more than mere work for him; It is an essential lifeline. Despite physical complaints that often plague him, painting remains a continuous companion for him. "When I work in the studio, I don't think of my pain," he says, adding that he is more of a complaint in the house.
a life for art
born in 1937, Krawagna learned the painting trade from his father and studied in Linz and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. His artistic journey led him through intensive clashes like Van Gogh and Kokoschka, which shaped his first portraits and landscape pictures. Traveling to Italy, Greece and Africa inspired his work and led to his own image cycles. The Walker already presented Krawagna's travel images in 2019, which reflect the experiences of his numerous study trips and impress with a poetic clarity. The artist paints in the wild and captures the moods of the landscapes with fine, atmospheric density, which helps his works to emotionality that captivates the viewer.
The ongoing exhibition in Gallery 3 until mid -April aims to pass on Krawagna's art to the next generation. Gallery owner Lena Freimüller emphasizes the great importance that Krawagna has not only in Carinthia, but also beyond. His work testifies to a philosophy of life that embodies the expression of nature and the Bible unit with it. Until the beginning of 2024, large -format works will also be exhibited in the Walker art space, which impressively emphasize the dynamics and color of his work.
