Birkenfeld district now part of the integrated control center Trier!
Trier, Deutschland - The Birkenfeld district has been part of the integrated control center Trier since December 20, 2024. From 10:23 a.m., the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of the Interior activated the new alarm system, whereby emergency calls in the National Parking district will be forwarded directly to the control center Trier. District Administrator Stefan Metzdorf and the fire department director Ralf Britten were present during the changeover, who accompanied the symbolic act. This step follows the decision of the ministry, the existing rescue service area Bad Kreuznach, to which the Birkenfeld district belonged, to dissolve on May 1, 2025, such as the Rhein-Zeitung reported.
extensive changes and challenges
The integrated control center Trier is now responsible for around 626,000 people in an area of 5,700 square kilometers, which also includes the Birkenfeld district. According to trier-saarburg.de are 85 fire brigades, six lifestyle guards and two emergency locations to be re-coordinated. The increase in the control center around the Birkenfeld district is a logistical and technical challenge that has been prepared for a year. Training for dispatchers were carried out to meet the specific requirements of the new area. The changeover is not only considered a progress in emergency care, but is also considered necessary in order to meet the current challenges through digitization and requirements of inter -municipal cooperation.
District Administrator Metzdorf praised the previous hard work of everyone involved and emphasized the importance of efficient emergency care. The integrated control center Trier already recorded over 165,000 missions this year and will further expand its capacities by integrating the Birkenfeld district. Ralf Britten, the fire department director of the city of Trier, expressed thanks to the team at the control center for their commitment and professionalism when implementing this central change.
