Her empirical studies, published in the renowned magazine "Psychology & Aging", show that personal factors such as intelligence and social origin have a decisive influence on life. "The‘ American Dream ’as an idea that success is only due to its own skills was not present in any of the cohorts examined," reports Hasl. These findings question the widespread view that hard work alone leads to success, and openly stem that social conditions and family backgrounds often have more influence.
