Kilo -way cocaine in Meidling: police strikes drug ring determined!

In a spectacular police operation in Vienna-Meidling, two Serbian men, 27 and 33 years old, were arrested on May 24, 2025 while they wanted to hand over a cocaine test. The arrest was the result of months of observations by the operational group to combat street crime (EGS), which is operated on in civilian and focused on drug hotspots. The two men had no permanent residence in Vienna, which made the investigation more difficult. According to [Kosmo.at] (https://www.kosmo.at/kilo notch-kokain-wohnung-polpol-s-serbische-ser-Deaeralduo-Festival/), they were transferred to a judiciary after the arrest, while a suspected customer, a 38-year-old man, was displayed at the open foot.

During a subsequent search of the apartment, to which the dealers had a key, the police ensured considerable amounts of drugs: 3.5 kilograms of cocaine, 11.6 grams of marijuana and cash of 8,900 euros. The estimated street sales value of the drugs is up to 300,000 euros, which illustrates the dimension of the closed deal. This warning of the police to the drug scene shows that the EGS is constantly active to prevent illegal activities, as today.at.

Success of the EGS

Since its foundation 20 years ago, the EGS has been an important unity to combat drug and property crime in Vienna. In the course of its work, the group was able to carry out more than 25,000 arrests and seized 570 kilograms of hard drugs and 6.2 million euros in cash. The EGS consists of four teams, each with 20 civilians who carry out targeted observations for drug hotspots in order to smash the networks of dealers, such as the information from [meinzirk.at] (https://www.meinbezirk.at/wien/c-lokales/so- many-drogen-wurden-in-aus-dem-verkehr-tried_a6526299).

Comprehensive drug conflicts were carried out in Vienna last year. Among other things, 30 kilograms of cocaine, 29 kilograms of heroin and 2.5 kilograms of crystal meth were ensured. The EGS not only fights drug trafficking, but also against property crime. Successes such as the arrest of 25 people in the case of break -in during burglaries show the efficiency of police work.

However, the professional work of the EGS faces challenges because groups of perpetrators are increasingly using confusion tactics and counter -observation, which makes the findings more difficult. All the more important remains the persistence and professionalism of the civil servants who oppose the constant threat of drug crime in Vienna.
