On December 21, 2024, Prof. Kroemer thanked the Charité employees in a video message on the occasion of the upcoming Christmas holidays. He praises their commitment in a challenging year in which the healthcare sector is faced with significant changes. In particular, the hospital reform and the tense financial situation in Berlin have a direct impact on the work at the Charité. Despite the uncertainties that many sectors are experiencing, Kroemer sees the Charité in a good position and assures that the demands on workplaces will continue to exist in the future. “What the Charité does is permanently necessary,” explains Kroemer. This should be promoted in particular through new innovations and treatment approaches developed in laboratories and clinical studies, such as this Charité portal reported.

Another significant step in the field of global health will be the appointment of Prof. Dr. Beate Kampmann was appointed head of the Institute for International Health at the Charité. From January 1, 2023, she will work together with Prof. Dr. Christian Drosten will head the new Charité Center Global Health (CCGH). Kampmann, an internationally recognized expert in international child health, returns to Germany from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine to reposition the institute and strengthen the network of global health initiatives.
