Carinthia fights for equality: women's report reveals brutal deficits!
On December 20, 2024, the Carinthian Women's Councilor Sara Schaar (SPÖ) presented the latest women's report, which is the third of its kind in the reports from 2011 and 2017. This report, created by the presentation for women and equality, aims to develop targeted and measurable measures to improve the equality of women in Carinthia. Despite some progress in the areas of childcare and education, the report shows significant deficits in employment, financial equality and in the case of aspects that are relevant to violence. Carinthia only reached 47 out of 100 points in the urban district of Eensity, while the cities of Klagenfurt and Villach were better able to do, as well as Frauen.ktn.gv.at
particularly worrying is inequality in professional and financial equality. Women do more unpaid work than men every day, while the part -time quota for women at 48.7 percent is extremely high. They also deserve significantly less; In 2023, Carinthian women worked “free” for 62 days, as the equal pay day illustrated. The report also emphasizes the need for better violence protection, especially in view of the increasing number of police dial and rapprochement. The recommendations of the report include the introduction of life -phase -oriented working time models and the promotion of fathers leave. The targeted support of women in MINT (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology) is also forced to systematically promote equality in various social areas. Basically, equality should be anchored as a cross-sectional matter in all social areas, says Martina Gabriel, head of the women's and equality department.
