Joanneum Racing Graz: With electro-cars for the best placement ever!
Joanneum Racing Graz: With electro-cars for the best placement ever!
A remarkable success for the Joanneum Racing Team from Graz! The team, which has made impressive progress since it was founded in 2003, achieved the best placement in its history as part of the Formula Student with his JR24 electric racing car: second place in the current world rankings. This was possible after the students were able to enter three podium places in the Czech Republic, Austria and Italy in the 2024 season, as reported. This is an outstanding result, especially in comparison to other renowned universities such as the ETH Zurich or the TU Graz, which, despite their strong competition, had to stay behind the Joanneum Racing team.
Confirmation by the Formula Student
The current world ranking placement published by the organizer "Formula Student Germany" is a confirmation of the hard work of the approximately 85 members of the team who come from various courses at the FH Joanneum. The head of the Vehicle Technology Institute, Kurt Steiner, expressed his pride on this performance and described the project as an example of practice -oriented teaching. With the new JR25 vehicle type, the team is already in the development phase for the next season, which will begin with the first competition in July 2025. These progress build on the success of the past seasons, where the team in 2021 won two overall victories with a combustion engine racing car and at times enjoyed second place in the world rankings.
The Formula Student is an annual competition in which students send their self -made racing cars into the race in various classes such as Combusion Vehicle (CV), Electric Vehicle (EV) and Dribleses Vehicle (DV). Participation includes static events in which the team gives presentations about their vehicles, as well as dynamic events such as ski pad and acceleration, such as Joanneum racing The Joanneum Racing Team is the first Austrian team to win an overall victory in the electric class, which underlines the importance and potential of these young engineers.
