Honey from East Tyrol: golden award for best quality!

Honey from East Tyrol: golden award for best quality!

Kals am Großglockner, Österreich - In the picturesque Kals on the Großglockner, honey production blooms thanks to the committed work of Sebastian Bauernfeind. The owner of the “Glockner Bee” mountainous crowd converts high quality guidelines to produce its honey, which is created from noble nectar of regional flora. "Glockner bee" products offer future buyers a pure taste experience-and not only on the breakfast table, but also on the shelves of shops such as Billa in Lienz and Matrei, in the RGO Lagerhaus Lienz, and in the Rieplach farm shop in Unterpeischlach, as on dolomitenstadt.at is reported.

But production was not without challenges this year. In the Tyrolean honey award, which took place in the Lienz district, the difficulties of the beekeepers became clear. Sebastian Bauernfeind, who is also the chairman of the RGO department, explained that the cold weather in spring and the heavy rains severely restricted the bee colonies in their nectar search. Extensive quality controls were carried out, and it became clear that the yields had significant fluctuations, which even presented the best beekeepers with challenges. A total of 180 honey was awarded to bronze prices, silver and gold, including 37 gold medals for the East Tyrolean honey. These impressive successes illustrate the top quality for which Tyrolean honey is known, according to the Tyrolean beekeeper association on osttirol-heute.at .

The Tyrolean honey award 2021 was not only an honor for the best beekeepers, but also a social action. The sent honey was mixed into a cuvee, the "Tyrolean Gold Cuvee", whose proceeds benefit a good cause. The net proceeds are intended to support the “Light into the Dark” campaign, which is presented during the Advent season. This not only underlines the manual skill of the Tyrolean beekeepers, but also their commitment to the community, which was emphasized by the clear communication of Ing. Reinhard Hetzenauer, President of the Austrian Beek Association.
