Fritz Truskaller releases Chairman Office to the senior citizens' association after 25 years

Mallnitz, Österreich - Fritz Truskaller, the long -time chairman of the local group of the Mallnitz senior citizens' association, has resigned after 25 years. The official handover took place as part of a solemn general assembly in the Hotel Bellevue. Truskaller, who is now 86 years old, was warmly applause for his extraordinary merits and thanks to the club members, the district chairman Johann Walker and the mayor Günther Novak.

Under Truskaller's management, the number of members of the local group was significantly increased, and numerous excursions and social meetings were organized during this time. Despite his resignation, no direct successor could be determined at the meeting. The board will take over the club management for the time being, with Josef Supersberger and Bernd Heller acting as chairman of the chairman. Brigitte Striednig takes over the writing, while Gabi Glantschnig as cashier and Ludwig Lerchbaumer are active.

The importance of volunteering

The voluntary commitment of the older generation is becoming increasingly important. According to the Austrian volunteer report, over 50,000 senior are involved: inside in various activities of the Austrian Senior Association. 57% of the 60- to 69-year-olds, 43% of 70 to 79 year olds and 25% of over 80 year olds are active in a voluntary position. In particular, relatives care, child and grandchildren care and neighborhood aid are essential for society and require a redefinition of the volunteer.

With regard to the recognition of the work of senior: there are suggestions to introduce tax allowances for voluntary work. These measures could not only contribute to appreciation of the commitment, but also strengthen the social network and counteract loneliness.

For many, commitment is a means of self -realization and source of motivation. The Austrian senior citizens' association invites interested parties to contact the state organization and become part of this valuable community. The abolition of age discrimination against bank loans was also received positively, which shows that society increasingly recognizes and appreciates the active role of older people.

Fritz Truskaller will be remembered as a show leader, whose commitment serves as a model for many seniors. The Mallnitz senior citizens' association is still looking for a new chairman to continue the tradition of volunteering.
