Fire Brigade Maria Lankowitz: Fireface Braid in good time!

In the night of Friday there was a dangerous fireplace fire in Maria Lankowitz, which could only be contained with efficiency and fast action by the fire brigade. At around 9 p.m., the 18 firefighters were alerted under the direction of HBI Harald Sorger. On the way, sparks and small flames from the fireplace were already visible. A chimney sweep turned out to be an additional safety factor, while the emergency services immediately started checking the entire house in order to identify potentially critical heat. Fortunately, there was no acute danger, but the attic showed increased temperatures, which was reason enough for the fire brigade to act immediately. The hot ash was regularly removed from the fireplace to prevent the fire from spreading, and the fire could finally be brought under control shortly before midnight. Exactly one week before the fire, on December 21, 2024, the blessing and official in-service position of the new truck-A took place in Maria Lankowitz. Among the numerous guests were Mayor Kurt Riemer and various firefighters who praised the outstanding planning and implementation of the vehicle. The new emergency vehicle based on an Iveco Daily 4 × 4 was specially designed for versatile missions and is equipped with the latest technology in order to offer the emergency services optimal support. At this solemn event, the hard work of the fire brigade members, which were involved in disaster operations the year earlier. An award with the Styrian disaster protection medal in bronze and silver was awarded for the tireless efforts during the storm in July, which significantly impaired the region.
