DLRG Remagen: Strong team receives price for life rescue!

The DLRG local group Remagen won the title "DLRG team of 2024" at this year's ceremony in Hamburg. This award came about during the "day of the volunteer" and distinguishes the Remagener for their extraordinary commitment in water rescue. In a competition with five nominated teams, the DLRG team managed to win almost half of the over 10,000 votes, as the Aktiplan reported. A big moment for the club, which does not often make it into the nationwide headlines.

The NIVEA Prize for Lifeguers, endowed with 10,000 euros in the "together" category, was awarded to the volunteers, who are tirelessly committed to safety on waters. Kevin Wassong, the chairman of the local group, commented: "This coveted price is a huge appreciation for our volunteer work and motivates us for the future!" The jury impressed the DLRG Remagen with versatile projects, including working in the water rescue group and extensive swimming courses for children who play a crucial role in the fight against drowning.

DIE DLRG Remagen e.V., founded in 1974 and now with over 740 members, celebrated its 50th anniversary this year. Together with the city of Remagen, they organized a variety of events to celebrate the anniversary. Your offer not only includes swimming courses for beginners, in which over 300 children were able to take part in the 2024 summer season alone, but also a committed youth work. On the occasion of the award, the team from Remagen was highlighted as a model for other DLRG structure, as was the Rhein-Zeitung reported.
