A 29-year-old man, originally from Afghanistan, fell victim to a brutal knife attack when he stepped out of a bar on the bridge road with a friend. What a normal evening should have been, ended in a true nightmare right in front of the 7.1 meter high bronze icon from 1971.

The police had to trigger a large alarm: the crime scene was cordoned off, specialists secured the traces. Another excitement: the sneaky attack was just on the day of the legendary Chemnitz mountain parade! Thousands of people are expected in the city center, where the parade traditionally also leads past the "Nischel". Thanks to the quick work of securing evidence, the crime scene could be released again before the event started, so that the parade can take place according to schedule.

While the victim was taken to the hospital with life -threatening injuries and is now being cared for intensive medicine, the police are looking for the fleeting perpetrator with high pressure.
