A 29-year-old man, originally from Afghanistan, fell victim to a brutal knife attack when he stepped out of a bar on the bridge road with a friend. What a normal evening should have been, ended in a true nightmare right in front of the 7.1 meter high bronze icon from 1971.

Another excitement: the sneaky attack was just on the day of the legendary Chemnitz mountain parade! Thousands of people are expected in the city center, where the parade traditionally also leads past the "Nischel". Thanks to the quick work of securing evidence, the crime scene could be released again before the event started, so that the parade can take place according to schedule.
