The Farmers' Association achieved a sensational election result of 82 percent in the Chamber of Agriculture election in Lower Austria on March 9, 2025. This is not only an impressive sign of trust from the farmers, but also secures the farmers' association a leading position in all 21 districts as well as at the state level. Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker congratulated the top candidates Johannes Schmuckenschlager and LH Deputy. The voter turnout was an impressive 47 percent, which indicates the high appreciation farmers have for the work of the farmers' association. Johannes Schmuckenschlager, the chamber president and top candidate, explained: “The farmers know who they can rely on.” Despite strong resistance from other political forces, including Greenpeace, the farmers' association defended its position with an outstanding result. “This election was under the motto ‘Everyone against the Farmers’ Union’ – and yet we achieved a sensational result under the most difficult conditions,” continued Schmuckenschlager express reported.
This result represents a clear mandate for the next legislative period and underlines that the Farmers' Association should remain a reliable partner in agriculture. Pernkopf sees the election success as a clear sign of confidence, while the party wants to continue to advocate for farmers' concerns in an increasingly challenging political climate.
