Vienna Doctors alarm: 30% salary claim for hospital doctors as an emergency call!
Mayor Michael Ludwig made a strong sign for the Vienna health system at yesterday's SPÖ club conference. As the OTS are reported by 2030 Invested billions of euros in health infrastructure. This is not only a brave step, but also an urgently needed measure in order to offer both the patient and medical staff in the numerous hospitals in Vienna. In addition, the introduction of a new, uniform duty time model from 2025 was announced, which should raise the compensation of holiday services. This speaks for a noticeable improvement in working conditions for hospital doctors.
However, the Vienna Medical Association is on alert. As the Meinzärzirk , the chamber in the ongoing salary negotiations demands a drastic increase of 30 percent for doctors in Wien. Against the background of significant personnel shortage and the too low salaries compared to other federal states, this could be crucial to counteract a wave of emigration from specialists. Vice President Stefan Ferci warns of the negotiating parties too close, which could possibly influence the result of the doctors. The Medical Association even plans a coordination of the negotiation result to ensure that the interests of the medicalmer are preserved.
This makes it clear that despite the positive announcements on the part of the city, there is a deep distrust among doctors. The difference between the salaries in Vienna and other federal states is considerable, with an increase of up to 30 percent taking place in Burgenland, while in Vienna the salaries are significantly afterwards. The interim curia chairman Eduardo Maldonado-González emphasizes that no hospital can work properly without the nursing staff. So money alone will not solve all problems, but the chamber remains resolutely in its goal of sustainably improving the conditions for the doctors in order to ensure the quality of care in Vienna in the long term.
