Vienna is expanding pediatrician network: New Center for Small Patients!
In the 18th district of Vienna, a new primary supply center for children was recently opened, which is called "Nepomuk". The facility is directed by four experienced pediatricians who previously worked on hospital legacies: Alexandra Ille, Mika Rappold, Helena Spitzer and Sophia Zacher. The aim of the center is to comprehensively improve health care for children and adolescents. The young patients are now available to young patients in Kreuzgasse 27 diverse medical and therapeutic services. Health City Councilor Peter Hacker (SPÖ) emphasizes that it is important not only to rely on highly specialized hospitals, but also to promote health centers close to home in order to meet high needs in Vienna, as well as Meinzirk.at reported.
With the opening of "Nepomuk", Vienna now has a total of eight children's primary care centers, in addition to two children's ambulatories. This is a significant step because the city of Vienna supports the establishment of these centers per year with 165,000 euros. Peter Hacker explains: "There are now twelve in Austria, and eight of them are in Vienna. We have just strained." The new center offers a wide range of services for children from 0 to 18 years and plans to further expand the offer in the future in order to ensure holistic care for young Viennese. The doctors already have ideas to include areas such as physiotherapy and speech therapy, such as orf.at .The foundation of the primary care center was initiated from the experience that the supply landscape in Vienna in the area of child and youth paramedics often covers too little. The doctors have set themselves the task of offering comprehensive care for young patients in a friendly and inviting environment. Despite the positive development, there are challenges, among other things, the search for suitable premises and the financing of the medical facilities. From 2023, the Austrian Health Insurance Fund is planning to establish further institutions in Vienna to further close the supply gap.
