shock and grief

The sudden tragedy surprisingly met Koshyk's family and friends, especially in a moment full of hope. "She and her husband wanted a child, but she had previously miscarried ... and then life smiled at her, she got pregnant and was already in the seventh month, and then this happened," her long -time friend Yana Belobrova told Cnn.

reactions from international politics

The Maternity Clinic in Kamianke was one of several goals that Russia attacked, shortly after US President Donald Trump announced an ultimate time frame for Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war. Trump was angry about Putin's actions and indicated that his patience with Russia was coming to an end.

"We thought we had clarified this several times, and then President Putin goes out and begins with rocket attacks on cities like Kiev and kills many people in a nursing home or the like," said Trump, and threatened with further sanctions against the Russian oil and gas exports if his demands are not met.

The situation in Ukraine

Ukraine welcomed the new period and emphasized that Putin only reacted to strength. "A clear attitude and the express will of Trump - exactly at the right time if strength can change for real peace through strength," said Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj on X. Nevertheless, the new deadlines for Russia were no reason to refrain from further attacks.

In the night to Tuesday morning, at least 27 civilians were killed in the entire Ukraine, which is an exceptionally high number in view of the recent increase in drone and rocket attacks by Russia. In the Charkiw region, five people died as a result of a rocket attack on a small food market and 16 civilians died in an attack on a prison in the Saporischschja region.

consequences and sanctions

Selenskyj was concerned about the fatal attacks and emphasized that Russia was not interested in peace. "The Russian leadership wastes the time of the world by talking about peace and at the same time killing people," he said. "Every killing of our people through the Russians shows that Moscow deserves hard, fair and effective sanctions."

Despite the impending measures, the Kremlin seemed unimpressed by the new threats. "We have noted yesterday's statement by President Trump," Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters. "The special military operation continues as usual," he added, referring to the war against Ukraine.

The reporting of CNNS Daria Tarasova has contributed to the clarification of these tragic events.
