Emergency room on Christmas Eve: Many patients after lush festive meals
In the emergency room of the Delme Clinic Delmenhorst, it becomes anything but quiet on Christmas Eve and during the holidays. According to a report by Weser-Kurier , numerous patients struggle with the consequences of overall food. Nurse Anke, who has been working in the hospital since 1983, explains that diagnoses such as biliary colic often occur, which means that patients have to be treated due to gallbladder cramps. Many people are inclined to see the emergency room with a slight fever or infections, although this is not necessary in many cases.
Medical on -call duty as relief
In order to relieve the emergency rooms, the Niedersachsen Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians call the patients to contact medical on -call duty in the event of mild illnesses. According to Weser Report , numerous doctors are available in the region to provide patients. Christmas Eve, for example, 19 doctors are active in on -call duty to contribute to outpatient health care. Patients are asked to first contact the placement center under number 116 117 for diseases such as flu or fever instead of immediately visiting the emergency room.
The emergency team in the Delme Clinic is well prepared due to the high number of patients to treat the serious cases that often increase on New Year's Eve and New Year. Typical injuries are burns, breathing problems due to flue gas poisoning and injuries from alcohol abuse. In order to create a festive atmosphere, the employees receive gifts at Christmas time and can experience small festive actions during their layers while taking care of the patients.
