Carinthia is fighting for modern primary care: new center in Villach!

Health care in Carinthia is facing a decisive change. Currently there is only a primary care center (PVE) in Klagenfurt, while the need to expand these facilities is becoming increasingly pressing. According to a report by ORF Kärnten , a second PVE in Villach is to be put into operation in the first quarter of next year. This center was decided last year, but structural measures are still required. The primary care units, which serve as an alternative to overcrowded hospital outpatient clinics, have the goal of making patient care more efficient.

expansion of the primary care units

The Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) plans to carry out information events in the coming weeks to win doctors who want to work together in the new primary care centers. Health officer Beate Prettner (SPÖ) underlined that such institutions are not only an advantage for patients, but also enable the doctors to work improved. The ÖGK also provides for similar plans for other locations in Carinthia - in Spittal, Völkermarkt and Wolfsberg there are also centers. Interested parties can currently apply to these companies by January 28, as The provider of primary medical care places also reported.

Although Carinthia still lags behind compared to other federal states such as Vienna and Styria, where there are significantly more centers, the ÖGK shows determination to close the gap. With funding of up to 50 percent from the EU Recovery and Resilience Fund, an incentive is created to promote the development of primary care. The initiative aims to take the pressure from the hospitals and to ensure more comprehensive, high -quality medical care in the region.
