Nativity scene magic in St. Andrä: Carinthia's largest exhibition opens!
ST. ANDRÄ. On December 7th, St. Andrä becomes Carinthia's nativity scene metropolis when the ceremonial opening of the Carinthian nativity scene exhibition takes place in the parish halls and arcades of the cathedral church. The St. Andrä nativity scene friends have organized an impressive spectacle that will captivate visitors with 45 artistically designed nativity scenes from various regions of Carinthia. These handmade works of art, created by six regional nativity scene building associations, range from oriental to traditional Alpine motifs and impressively tell the Christmas story from the birth of Jesus to the visit of the Three Kings, as the Kleine Zeitung reports.
Opening times and additional offers
The exhibition is open on the first weekend of Advent as well as on December 14th and 15th and from December 20th to 22nd. What's special about this event is the opportunity to book guided tours of the impressive exhibition, which makes for an even more intense experience. The opening will also be accompanied by musical performances by the St. Andrä men's choir, which underline the festive nature of the event, as meinbezirk.at reported.
Overall, the event promises not only a visual enrichment, but also an emotional introduction to the contemplative Christmas season, which brings many families together. Visitors should definitely not miss this special date in Advent 2024!
