International competition inspires young writers in Finkenstein!
On November 16, 2025, the Carinthian Education Center's competition developed into an international event involving 397 entries from eight countries. These countries include Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Canada. New this year is the KIDS COMPETITION, which involves young talents in the creative writing process. What is particularly exciting is that children from Finkenstein Middle School wrote their own texts and were evaluated by a jury.
In today's event, a selected entry from this competition will be presented at a reading and awarded a prize. Mayor Christian Poglitsch will present the award, honoring the best contributions. The prize money for the winners is significant: 1st place receives 1,000 euros, 2nd place receives 500 euros and 3rd place receives 300 euros. In addition, two honorary prizes will be awarded by the Marktcafé Finkensteiner Nudelfabrik. The audience also has the opportunity to vote for the audience award.
A celebration of creativity and encounters
The event not only offers the opportunity for the award ceremony, but also acts as a place for encounters, exchanges and appreciation for creative writing. Moderator Christine Sitter will host the evening. The readers include Daniëlle Bilina with “Green Cherries”, Sonja Heidenblut with “Knopf-Kino”, and Hannah Lenger, who presents a story called “Mustard Yellow Light”.
In addition to the creative talents in the spotlight today, there are also current literary competitions that can motivate writers and develop their writing skills. These include the HÖRLICH literary competition, which runs until November 11, 2025 and awards prizes ranging from 400 euros to 100 euros for the best contributions. The EIS writing competition also offers interesting prizes for the best stories for erotic short stories.
Variety of tenders in 2025
A look at the tenders shows that there are numerous opportunities to get creative. The topics are diverse, from the “Animal” poetry competition to the AIEIA “Autumn” poetry competition and the Grassauer Deichelbohrer, which looks for stories without specific requirements.
