On December 27, 2024, Friedel Grimm, board member of VfL Sportfreunde Bad Neustadt, announced the continuation of the popular indoor tournament series. The 24th Bad Neustädter Hallengala will take place on Saturday, December 28th, in the Mayor Goebels Hall. The first games begin at 6 p.m. and the winner of the event is expected to be announced shortly before midnight.
This year the starting field will include two state league teams as well as several teams from the Bad Neustadt region. Benedikt Kolb from the organization team expressed his excitement about the upcoming tournament. After a three-year break due to the pandemic, during which the indoor gala took place again last year, the number of visitors was pleasingly high.
Participants and game modes
Kolb emphasizes the positive response to the indoor gala concept. The defending champion is TSV Aubstadt II, which will also compete this year, while TSV Großbardorf is sending numerous players from its state league squad into the race. SV Rödelmaier, leaders of the district league, will also send their first team to the tournament.
The preliminary round groups are set up as follows: Group A consists of SG Brendlorenzen/Windshausen, TSV Aubstadt II, VfL Sportfreunde Bad Neustadt and SpVgg Hambach. In Group B, TSV Großbardorf, SV Rödelmaier, DJK Salz/Mühlbach and FSV Hohenroth meet. The game is played according to classic indoor rules with large small-field goals (5 × 2 meters) and a one-sided barrier.
The Bad Neustädter Hallengala is not the only tournament taking place this weekend. There are also numerous indoor tournaments around the Lower Rhine, such as the HStM Mönchengladbach, which takes place from December 27th to January 4th, or the indoor city championships in Rheinberg, which take place on December 28th and 29th.
