New attacks on Gaza: Ten dead and the ceasefire in danger!

The situation in the Gaza Strip remains tense, especially since November 19, 2025. Israel's army carried out targeted attacks on Hamas facilities again this week despite an existing ceasefire. These military actions were triggered after several terrorists opened fire on an area in Khan Younis where Israeli soldiers are deployed. Israel described this incident as a clear violation of the existing ceasefire.

According to the Hamas-controlled Civil Defense, around ten deaths have been reported as a result of the Israeli attacks since Wednesday afternoon. In the city of Gaza, a building belonging to a Hamas-controlled agency was hit, resulting in five deaths. However, there is no reliable independent confirmation of this information. So far, no injuries have been reported among Israeli soldiers, further exacerbating the already tense situation in the Gaza Strip.

Renewed bombings and hostage situation

The Israeli Air Force carried out airstrikes particularly near Khan Younis and south of Gaza City. This is the first offensive since the ceasefire that began on October 10th. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that attacks on Hamas would be intensified to achieve all war aims, including the return of all hostages and the destruction of Hamas.

Hamas currently holds 59 Israeli hostages, 35 of whom are reportedly already dead. The group has since refused to release hostages, further complicating the situation. Prime Minister Netanyahu emphasized that negotiations under these conditions can only be conducted “under fire” and that this is just the beginning.

International reactions and protests

Israel's airstrikes are causing international concern. France, Turkey and the UN have condemned these actions. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar announced that attacks would continue in the coming days and that suggestions from the US envoy to extend the ceasefire were rejected by Hamas. UN Secretary-General António Guterres called for the ceasefire to be respected and the hostages to be released.

In addition, protests took place in Tel Aviv against the continuation of the Gaza war and for the release of the hostages. Protesters also expressed displeasure over Netanyahu's firing of domestic intelligence chief Ronen Bar, further fueling public unrest.

Background and humanitarian crisis

The Gaza Strip is one of the most densely populated areas in the world, with a population largely made up of Palestinian refugees. The region is suffering from a severe humanitarian crisis, exacerbated by the years-long blockade by Israel and Egypt. The local population relies heavily on humanitarian aid, while the economic situation is catastrophic, with unemployment reaching 46 percent and reaching 70 percent among young people.

Since the current escalation of the conflict began in 2023, over 60,000 Palestinians have reportedly been killed, further exacerbating the already critical situation in the Gaza Strip. In response to the ongoing fighting and human losses, peace proposals have been put forward from various quarters that include demilitarization of Hamas and international oversight of the administration of the Gaza Strip.

Against this backdrop, the future of the region remains uncertain as international actors and civilians suffer from the ongoing conflicts.
