VSV fever: MacPherson remains and provides new hope!

In an exciting game on Shrove Tuesday, VSV Villach defeated HC Bozen 4-3 after extra time, allowing them to equalize in the best-of-seven series. The next duel is on Friday in Bolzano, where the team will compete at 7:45 p.m. to continue their winning streak. This exciting news is accompanied by another important event: the contract extensions of two key players that secure the club's future.

Dylan MacPherson remains an Eagle

The VSV proudly announces that defender Dylan MacPherson will also play for the Carinthians next season. The 26-year-old Canadian, who moved to Villach from North America in 2023, has scored 26 points in his 48 appearances. In the current season he continued to impress by being present in every regular season game and collecting 20 points. Managing director Martin Winkler emphasizes how important MacPherson is for the team: “Dylan is a hard-working defender who has absolutely impressed us in his two years in Villach and is an integral part of our team.” Despite tempting offers from home and abroad, he remains loyal to Villach and thus strengthens the defense for the coming season.

In addition, VSV confirmed that experienced goalkeeper Joe Cannata will also stay for two more years. The 35-year-old keeper, who has an impressive catch rate of 92 percent this season, will be number 1 in goal after Jean-Philippe Lamoureux retires. Winkler praises Cannata as “one of the best goalkeepers in the league” and emphasizes his leadership qualities in the team. With these contract extensions, the “Eagles” are not only securing experienced players, but are also preparing for further success hockey-news.info and laola1.at.
